AIG ELECTS JOHN W. KEOGH SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND MICHAEL MITROVIC VICE PRESIDENT

NEW YORK--Nov. 1, 2005--American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced that its Board of Directors has elected John W. Keogh Senior Vice President, Domestic General Insurance and Michael Mitrovic Vice President, Claims.

Mr. Keogh will continue to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of AIG member company National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., a position he has held since 2000. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President of AIG's Domestic Brokerage Group (DBG), responsible for managing field operations and segment marketing. Mr. Keogh had previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Lexington Insurance Company, and before that as President of the DBG Commercial Accounts Division. Earlier in his career he held a number of management positions with AIG Risk Management, Inc., American Home Assurance Company, and American International Underwriters (AIU). He joined the AIG Companies in 1986 and is a graduate of Brown University.

Mr. Mitrovic is President, American International Companies Worldwide Financial Lines Claims a position he has held since 2001. Mr. Mitrovic joined the AIG Companies in 1983 and served in key claims management positions, including financial institutions, professional liability, surety, fidelity and health care/medical malpractice claims. Between 2000 and 2001 he was an executive at Global Specialty Risk, Inc. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, and holds an M.A. from New York University, an M.I.A. from Columbia University, and a J.D. from the University of Richmond.
