NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 2005--AIG Global Investment Group (AIGGIG) has named Robert T. Thompson Senior Managing Director--Alternative Investments, responsible for all private equity and hedge fund activities globally. Mr. Thompson, who will be based in New York, reports to Win J. Neuger, American International Group, Inc. (AIG) Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer and AIGGIG Chairman and CEO.

Mr. Thompson was previously a founder and managing member of Ferrer Freeman Thompson & Co., LLC, a Greenwich, CT-based private equity fund that invests in the health care industry. Prior to that, Mr. Thompson was Managing Director and Equity Group Leader at GE Capital Corporation, where he was the founder of the GE Capital private equity businesses and developed GE Capital's private equity activities throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. Before joining GE Capital, Mr. Thompson was a consultant at Bain & Co. and a commercial lending officer at Chemical Bank. He holds an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
