NEW YORK--Aug. 3, 2005--American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced that Michael E. Roemer will join AIG as Director of Internal Audit and will be appointed an AIG Senior Vice President. He will report directly to the Audit Committee of the AIG Board of Directors and administratively to Steven J. Bensinger, AIG Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Roemer succeeds Keith L. Duckett, who has been named AIG Vice President-Administration.
Mr. Roemer was previously Senior Vice President in the General Audit Department of JP Morgan Chase, where he was responsible for overall audit coverage of Finance, Risk Management, Commercial Banking and the Trust, Custody and Cash Management businesses, as well as the overall administration of the General Audit Department. He spent 20 years as an auditing professional with JP Morgan Chase in positions of increasing responsibility. He earned his BS degree in Accounting from St. John's University and completed the Tuck Executive Program at the Tuck School of Dartmouth College.
As Vice President-Administration, Mr. Duckett will have responsibility for AIG's Global Security, Global Sourcing and Global Real Estate/Facilities and will identify opportunities to provide enhanced service, support and efficiency to AIG's worldwide businesses. He will report to Mr. Bensinger. Mr. Duckett joined AIG's Internal Audit Division in 1987 and held various management positions within the Division before being appointed Director of Technical Accounting Standards in 1992. He was named AIG Director of Internal Audit in 1995, and elected an AIG Vice President in 2001.
