NEW YORK--Jan. 5, 2005--American International Group, Inc. (AIG) today announced that Mark Popolano, AIG Chief Information Officer, will assume senior executive leadership for AIG Technologies, Inc. (AIGT). Mr. Popolano, who has also been elected AIG Senior Vice President, will maintain his AIG CIO responsibilities and is succeeding Lawrence English, AIG Senior Vice President - Administration, who is retiring.

Supporting Mr. Popolano at AIGT will be Eric Deardorff, formerly Senior Director, Financial Analysis and Strategic Research for the Office of the AIG Chief Financial Officer, who assumes the role of AIGT Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. Hank Hamilton, Office of the AIG CIO Senior Vice President of Business Process and Call Center Operations, will take on the additional responsibility of AIGT Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Deardorff and Mr. Hamilton will report directly to Mr. Popolano.

"Furthermore, Mark's strategic planning and execution experience within the AIG Companies community is a valuable asset that AIGT will leverage for the benefit of its internal and external clients."

In his new position, Mr. Popolano will continue to focus on developing and maintaining world-class disaster recovery, security, business continuity and hosted solutions capabilities. Additionally, Mr. Popolano will oversee AIGT's Livingston, New Jersey and Fort Worth, Texas data centers to enhance the organization's global infrastructure, improve technology service levels and increase coordination of hardware and software purchasing.

Mark Popolano joined the AIG Companies in 1995 and has served in a wide range of IT-related roles, including American International Underwriters' senior system executive and AIG's Chief Technology Officer. He was named AIG Chief Information Officer in 2000 and became an AIG Vice President in 2002.
