NEW YORK, Nov 3, 2004 -- American International Group, Inc. (AIG) today announced that David M. Hupp has been named AIG Companies Senior Executive - Eastern Region and Vincent J. Masucci has been named AIG Companies Senior Executive - Western Region. In these new domestic positions, Mr. Hupp and Mr. Masucci will be responsible for identifying new market opportunities that intersect the AIG Companies' multiple lines of business within its domestic operations, including retirement services, life/health products and property-casualty insurance. Both executives will report to Martin J. Sullivan, Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Operating Officer of American International Group, Inc.

Commenting on the new appointments, Mr. Sullivan said, "Dave and Vince's extensive experience within the AIG organization is a valuable asset that will help us expand our relationships with clients nationwide across multiple product lines. Both executives are charged with exploring new business opportunities that will leverage the AIG Companies' extensive capabilities to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions to commercial clients throughout the United States."

Replacing Mr. Hupp as Domestic Brokerage Group Zonal Senior Vice President - East will be Matthew F. Power. Mayra E. Guffin will replace Mr. Masucci as Domestic Brokerage Group Zonal Senior Vice President - West. Mr. Power and Ms. Guffin will be responsible for field operations in their respective zones, as well as coordinating regional marketing initiatives in support of the products and services of the Domestic Brokerage Group.

David M. Hupp joined American International Underwriters (AIU) in New York as an underwriter in 1970. He has held a number of positions in domestic AIU offices, including Vice President of AIU in 1977 and President of AIU's North American Division, currently known as AIG WorldSource, in 1979. He was named President of AIU Limited in Hong Kong in 1982, and Regional Vice President of AIU's Southeast Asia Division in 1985. In 1986 he returned to the United States to become Southeast Regional Vice President for the AIG Domestic Brokerage Group, based in Atlanta. In 1990, Mr. Hupp was named President of AIG Europe, S.A., AIG's continental European property-casualty insurance company. In 1993 he returned to New York and became Director of Regional Operations and Marketing for the Domestic Brokerage Group, before becoming DBG Zonal Senior Vice President - East in 1999.

Vincent J. Masucci joined the AIG Companies in 1972 in New York in the International Management trainee program of AIU. He transferred to Guatemala as Casualty Manager, Central America for AIU. Mr. Masucci was named Casualty Manager for the United Kingdom and Europe for AIU in 1974, and in 1977 became Assistant Manager, Casualty Worldwide, based in New York. In 1978, Mr. Masucci was appointed AIU Regional Manager in Los Angeles and became President, AIU-West Coast in 1982. He was named President of AIU's North American Division in 1987 and President of A.I. Global in 1989. Mr. Masucci was appointed Director of Regional Operations for the AIG Domestic Brokerage Group in 1991 and DBG Zonal Senior Vice President - West in 1993.

Mayra E. Guffin joined the AIG Companies in 1983 as a Regional Excess Casualty Manager with American Home Assurance Company. She has held a number of executive positions within the Domestic Brokerage Group, including Regional Marketing Manager from 1993 - 1996, Business Development Manager from 1996 - 1997, Zonal Vice President, National Accounts from 1997 - 1998 and Regional Vice President for the Los Angeles region from 1998 to 2004.

Matthew F. Power joined the AIG Companies in 1993 as Regional Director, Corporate Accounts in Boston and has spent his career within the DBG operation. In 1996 he was named Business Development Manager, Boston, and subsequently was appointed Assistant Vice President, National Accounts in 1999. For the past four years, Mr. Power has served as Regional Vice President for the Domestic Brokerage Group's Boston region.
