NEW YORK--May 24, 2004--American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced that its Board of Directors elected Frank H. Douglas AIG Senior Vice President and Casualty Actuary and Charlene H. Hamrah AIG Vice President and Director of Investor Relations.

Mr. Douglas joined AIG in 1980, and held a series of increasingly responsible actuarial positions with AIG's Domestic Brokerage Group. Early in his career he served as Vice President and Actuary for American International Underwriters, AIG's international property-casualty insurance operation. He was elected AIG Vice President and Casualty Actuary in 2000. Mr. Douglas is a graduate of Jersey City State College and earned his master's degree in mathematics from Montclair State College. He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Ms. Hamrah joined AIG in 1986. She served in a succession of senior financial, analytical and management positions in AIG's comptroller's division and its specialty agency companies. Ms. Hamrah was appointed AIG's Director of Investor Relations in 1991. Prior to joining AIG, Ms. Hamrah served in several financial positions, including vice president for financial planning and analysis with a New York-based commercial property-casualty insurer. She earned her bachelor's degree from Caldwell College and holds a master's degree in business administration from Rutgers University.
