NEW YORK--May 14, 2004--American International Group, Inc. (AIG) will sponsor Hideki Matsui Notebook Day on May 15, 2004 when the New York Yankees play the Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium at 1:05 p.m. EDT.

The first 18,000 fans ages 14 and under will receive a spiral-bound notebook featuring a photograph of Yankees All-Star outfielder Hideki Matsui on the front and a list of popular Japanese baseball terms on the back cover. Additionally, AIG will make a donation to Little League baseball in the United States and Japan as part of the promotion. AIG will donate a minimum of 100,000 Japanese yen to both the Bronx-based Parkchester Little League and the Japan Little League Baseball Association. The contribution will be increased to one million yen (approximately $10,000) per league for each home run Matsui hits in the game.

A pre-game ceremony featuring AIG Vice Chairman Howard I. Smith and Michihiro Takakuwa, Matsui's junior high school baseball coach, will take place at home plate announcing AIG's promotion and the Little League contributions.

"AIG has the leading foreign insurance presence in Japan, where the New York Yankees, Hideki Matsui and Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners are household names," said Mr. Smith.
