NEW YORK, Jan 8, 2002 -- American International Underwriters (AIU), the international property-casualty organization of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), has launched www.aiu.com, a comprehensive Internet resource designed to provide AIU's consumer, commercial clients and risk managers with online transactional features such as claims reporting and access to local eCommerce sites, as well as valuable local market and industry information.

"This new web site provides insureds around the world with a central location to obtain policyholder services, online claims and purchasing capabilities and information on AIU's broad range of products," said Martin J. Sullivan, AIG Executive Vice President, Foreign General Insurance and President of AIU. "The ease of use and efficiencies provided by aiu.com will help broaden consumer and commercial insureds' access to the most extensive general insurance network of any insurance organization."

aiu.com's easy-to-use website enables users to submit consumer, commercial and marine claims online, which are then managed by a local AIU claims specialist. This feature not only expedites the claims process, but also helps eliminate errors that can occur when using ordinary mail or telephone to report claims.

Additionally, users can search aiu.com either by product or country. The site provides a comprehensive directory of AIU's business lines including Crisis Management, Casualty, Personal Lines, Accident and Health, Marine, Energy, Environmental, Trade Credit and Risk Finance, as well as information on the countries that form AIG's global network. Once a search identifies a product and country, visitors can select contact information on AIG member companies, insurance product information, country-specific economic information and news, as well as worldwide financial and insurance industry news.

Additionally, where available, the aiu.com provides links to local eCommerce sites enabling users to purchase coverages directly online.

For more information on AIU's products and services, please visit www.aiu.com or contact your local office or by e-mail at ask.aiu@aig.com..
