|AIG NAMES JOHN J. FINIGAN, JR. PRESIDENT AND CEO OF AIG TRADING GROUP INC.|
|NEW YORK, May 24, 2001 – American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has named John J. Finigan, Jr. President and Chief Executive Officer of AIG Trading Group Inc., responsible for the worldwide operations of AIG Trading and its subsidiaries, including AIG International Inc.|
Mr. Finigan joins AIG from Deutsche Bank where he was Managing Director and Global Head of IT and Operations for Foreign Exchange, Commodities and Credit Products. Prior to this, he spent 25 years at Bankers Trust in a succession of trading, sales, risk management, operations and control roles in various capital markets activities.
Mr. Finigan was a member of the Federal Reserve Foreign Exchange Committee from 1991 to 1999, serving as Chairman of that Committee from 1996 to 1999. For the past two years, he has been Chairman of CLS Services, Ltd., the industry consortium that will institute continuous linked settlement for foreign exchange. He earned a B.A. Degree in mathematics from Boston College and an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
Commenting on Mr. Finigan's appointment, AIG Chairman M.R. Greenberg said, “We are very pleased to have John Finigan join AIG. AIG also announced that Bradford L. Klein will become Executive Vice President of AIG Trading Group and a member of AIG Trading Group's Executive Committee, with responsibility for, among other things, AIG Trading Group's Global Commodities business.
