|AIG’S AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES® INTRODUCE ENDORSEMENTS TO COMMERCIAL UMBRELLA LIABILITY COVERAGES|
NEW YORK, February 16, 1999 – National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. and American Home Assurance Company, member companies of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), have introduced Umbrella Silver and Umbrella Gold*, endorsements to commercial middle market umbrella liability policies that provide coverage for catastrophic Directors and Officers (D&O) and Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) claims for middle market insureds. Umbrella Silver and Umbrella Gold are claims-made endorsements attached to an insured's Commercial Umbrella Liability policy. Unlike traditional Excess D&O and EPLI policies, insureds receive a credit for sharing the limit with the umbrella general aggregate. Coverages are underwritten by member companies of AIG.
Umbrella Silver provides coverage only for non-indemnifiable D&O and EPLI claims, following the terms and conditions of the underlying primary policy. Umbrella Silver recognizes erosion of limits of underlying policies for all D&O and EPLI claims, regardless of whether they are indemnifiable, non-indemnifiable or entity coverage. Umbrella Gold follows the terms and conditions of underlying D&O and EPLI policies, providing indemnifiable, non-indemnifiable and entity coverage for D&O and EPLI claims.
In addition to Umbrella Silver and Umbrella Gold, the American International Companies® offer a wide range of management liability insurance coverages, including D&O Gold. D&O Gold is a Directors, Officers, and Corporate Liability policy that includes coverage for Year 2000 exposures and incorporates over 40 additional enhancements addressing securities claims, bankruptcy, employment practices liability, pollution liability, and other risks.*
