AIG'S AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES INTRODUCE
PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR NURSE MIDWIVES

NEW YORK, October 13, 1999 - American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced that the American International Companies have introduced the Certified Nurse Midwife Professional Liability Policy.* The policy covers actual or alleged wrongful acts by an insured or by a third party for which the insured is legally liable, such as employees, students, and volunteers.

The Certified Nurse Midwife Professional Liability Policy is designed to provide liability protection and to address coverage gaps resulting from clauses, exclusions, or inadequate policy limits that may exist in insurance policies offered through a medical facility or a physician's insurance policy.

The policy is also available to qualified Birth Centers, part-time and new certified nurse midwives, and certified nurse midwives that do not perform deliveries. A leave of absence extension of up to 12 months is available.

Limits of liability are available up to $1 million per incident and $3 million annual aggregate. Higher limits may be available subject to underwriting.

The Managing General Agent for the Certified Nurse Midwife Professional Liability Policy is Contemporary Insurance Services (IT Insurance Services in California), a provider of insurance products and services to healthcare professionals.
