BOSTON, February 15, 2000 – Lexington Insurance Company has introduced EPL Hospitality SelectSM, employment practices liability insurance coverages* and value-added risk management services tailored specifically to the lodging, gaming and restaurant industries.

“With factors such as significant unmonitored interaction between employees and between employees and customers, the hospitality industry is very susceptible to employment practices liability risks,” said Paul Cunningham, Lexington's E.P.L insurance manager. “EPL Hospitality Select is a tailored EPL product and integrated risk management program that provides hospitality industry insureds with an easy to implement program that not only provides insurance coverage, but also helps in reducing exposures and mitigating claims.

EPL Hospitality Select offers “full” prior acts coverage, and third party coverage for non-employee claims, including employment practices claims brought by patrons or vendors. The policy definition of “employee” can be extended to include independent contractors, such as subcontracted cleaning, food vendor and security services. Punitive damages coverage is also provided. Coverage is automatic for acquisitions if the employee total of the acquired company is less than 20 percent of the employee total of the insured entity.

EPL Hospitality Select provides hospitality industry insureds with an Integrated Employment Practices Risk Management Package comprised of a broad menu of value-added services. Available services include flexible, tailored employment practices risk management assistance, access to a full-time employment practices risk management consultant, group employment practices seminars and training, electronic employment practices self-audit tools, and tailored employment practices risk management information packets. Audits of employment practices policies and procedures, performed by an international labor law firm, are made available to qualified insureds.
