|AIG COMMERCIAL INSURANCE GROUP NAMES EXECUTIVES|
NEW YORK--April 7, 2008--American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has named several executives to positions within the new AIG Commercial Insurance Group, formerly known as the Domestic Brokerage Group. AIG Commercial Insurance is part of the newly created AIG Property Casualty.
Michael W. Smith has been named President of AIG Executive Liability, reporting to John Q. Doyle, Executive Vice President of the AIG Property Casualty Group and President of AIG Commercial Insurance Group. Mr. Smith was formerly President of AIG Financial Lines Claims. He joined AIG in 1996 as Division Counsel in AIG Executive Liability's Professional Liability Division. He subsequently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer before being promoted to President of the Professional Liability Division. Mr. Smith was also an attorney in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of the University of West Florida and holds a JD degree with Honors from the University of Florida College of Law.
Louis P. Iglesias has been named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AIG Risk Management Group, also reporting to Mr. Doyle. Under Mr. Iglesias, AIG Risk Management Group will now include AIG Specialty Workers' Compensation, which serves small and mid-market size businesses and was formerly a division of AIG's American Home Assurance Company. Mr. Iglesias has served in senior level positions within AIG Risk Management, including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He has also served as Senior Vice President of National Accounts for AIG's Domestic Brokerage Group. Mr. Iglesias was named President of AIG Environmental in 2004 and President of AIG Global Risk Management in 2005. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia and holds CPCU and ARM professional designations.
Russell Johnston has been named President of AIG Risk Management, and will continue to report to Mr. Iglesias. Since 1990, Mr. Johnston has held increasingly senior positions in AIG Risk Management, including Division President of National Accounts and President of Domestic Risk Management. He is a graduate of Syracuse University.
Douglas M. Worman, Domestic Brokerage Group Zonal Executive for the Greater New York Region, has been appointed President of the newly named AIG Excess Casualty Group, combining the existing operations of AIG Excess Casualty, which provides commercial umbrella and excess casualty liability insurance, and AIG Warranty. He will also report to Mr. Doyle. Prior to his assignment in the New York Region, Mr. Worman held underwriting and management positions in AIG Executive Liability including Division President of the Commercial Directors & Officers Liability unit, which included national and commercial accounts. He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University.
John O'Brien, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of AIG Environmental, has been appointed President of AIG Environmental. Mr. O'Brien will continue to report to Joseph Boren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AIG Environmental. Mr. O'Brien joined the AIG companies in 1992 and has served as Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President of AIG Environmental's Commercial and Middle Market divisions. He is a graduate of Villanova University.
Susan M. Clarke has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of AIG Domestic Accident & Health, reporting to Steve Gold, President and Chief Executive Officer of AIG Domestic Accident & Health. Ms. Clarke joined the AIG companies in 1996. She has served in underwriting and management positions in American International Underwriters and AI Life, most recently Senior Vice President of Specialty Markets for the Accident & Health Division. She is a graduate of the University College Dublin.
